The Heckler & Koch HK VP9 Pistol was first introduced in 2014. It’s the latest striker fired pistol offered by famous German company Heckler & Koch since its long abandoned P7 and VP70 handguns. It is a medium sized pistol, suitable for concealed carry, or for duty carry in an exposed service type holster. Its name, VP9, is apparently intended to pay homage to the HK VP70 Pistol from the late 1960’s. That innovative addition was the world’s first production standard polymer framed and striker fired pistol.

Technical Description:

The Heckler & Koch HK VP9 pistol is a short recoil operated, locked breech weapon utilizing modified Browning locking with tilting barrel mechanism. The frame of the gun is made from high strength polymer and features removable grip backstraps available in three different sizes, supplied with each pistol.

The gun is fed from double stack, single feed magazines compatible with 9mm HK P30 Pistols. This weapon is equipped with a proprietary trigger, pre-cocked striker and short trigger reset. The magazine release is of a lever type and slide release controls are ambidextrous.

An unusual feature of the HK VP9 is the patented “charging support”. This consists of a pair of vertical protrusions located at the rear of the slide, on both sides. This charging support provides an enhanced grip surface for the non firing hand when manually cycling the slide. Standard fitted sights are of fixed, low profile three-dot type with optional luminous tritium inserts. A Picatinny rail  is provided on the frame below the barrel for accessories.
